For individuals who are not into winter sports but into onsen and sightseeing, you might want to visit the Monkey Park, where you can see the bathing monkeys in natural onsen (hot spring) which is about half an hour away by bus. In short, it`s less than an hour away from the hotel (door to door). =D

Details:
The Shiga Kogen area has 4 main ski areas, with a total of 70 lifts, and 21 gondolas. The main areas are:Kuma-no-Yu, Yokoteyama Area, Sun Valley, Maruike, Hasugaike area, Ichinose, Takamagahara area, Yakebitaiyama, Oku-Shiga Area.
Frequent shuttle buses travel between the areas.

We will be staying near Kuma-no-Yu (elev. 1700m) and Yokoteyama (elev. 2300m) which is the highest area of all.
Kuma-no-Yu: 3 minutes walk (Skiing only)
Yokoteyama: 5 minutes walk (Skiing and Snowboarding)
Shibu-Toge: Can be accessed from Yokoteyama (Skiing and Snowboarding)

The place has Natural Hot Spring Baths (貸切温泉風呂)and Outdoor Baths (露天風呂). Sports bar with billiard tables and darts are also available in the hotel.
